Community Support

The Surf Club Kurrawa has one main objective, to provide financial support to the Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club.  During 2007 this support came in the form of  $653,100.00.

The donated funds have enabled Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club to purchase vital equipment and upgrade facilities, as detailed below:

• Inflatable rescue boats, motors and equipment
• First aid supplies and equipment
• Rescue boards and patrol equipment
• Patrol trailer
• Patrol and IRB driver uniforms
• Nipper craft and equipment
• Training equipment and furniture
• Members subsidies for craft, swimming and beach apparatus
• Gear and equipment trailer

The Surf Club Kurrawa is proud to have supported other community fundraising activities, including the combined Gold Coast Surf Life Saving Supporters Association Sportsmans Luncheon - this raised an amazing $80,000.00 in 2007.   An outstanding achievement, with Kurrawa very proud to have raised over $20,000.00 of this total amount, with all proceeds from this event going to participating Surf Clubs.

To date, in 2008 The Surf Club Kurrawa has participated in the Leukemia Foundation World's Greatest Shave event and raised $1,084.00.  On the 30th of June, The Surf Club Kurrawa encouraged supporters to give blood to the Red Cross Blood Service - the response was overwhelming, and many prospective donors had to be turned away.  As a result we will be holding the event again at the end of September over a two day period.  The Surf Club Kurrawa, in conjunction with the event, raised $708.70 for Clubs Smile for a Child.  This important charity raises money for the Starlight Foundation, Montrose Access, and Can Teen.
